TSECL to install 120 MW power plant for clean energy
Agartala, Mar 28 (UNI): Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has embarked on a plan to install a 120 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant at Rokhia in West Tripura to generate clean energy to comply with the emission reduction commitment of India in climate change mitigation initiative, said Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath here on Tuesday.
The TSECL has invited a global e-tender for the ambitious project, which will not only be techno-economically viable but also reduce the generation cost, and thus, reduce the tariff burden of the consumers. It has targeted to reduce transmission loss by up to 19% in FY 2023-24 through several technical and infrastructural corrective measures, the minister underlined.
Further, distribution reliability has been under the improvement through laying underground cables, covered conductors, and Smart meter installations under financial assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB). However, TSECL comes under stress due to an outstanding energy bill of Rs 566.82 crore, Nath added.
