Shillong, June 26: Tura MDC Bernard Marak wanted the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to allow Centre to set up an independent probe instead of magisterial inquiry for the damage of PA Sangma stadium.
He asked the chief minister to stop being defensive over the shoddy work done at the PA Sangma stadium and to let the Centre set up the probe.
In a letter to CM, the BJP leader said, “…stop being so defensive over the shoddy work done at Purno Sangma stadium instead let the high level independent inquiry committee be invited from the Centre so that proper investigation can be done.”
He said that the wall that collapsed at PA Sangma stadium revealed that the back filling was done by red and clay soil which was obviously not recommendable by the experts.
Earlier in the day, the chief minister said “Based on the preliminary report, it is nothing that serious about the entire thing but we are not taking any chance so hence we will have a magisterial enquiry done and we will do a safety audit to ensure all aspects are looked into.”
