VP plans 12-day programme for North East

Shillong, Oct 4: The vice president M Venkaiah Naidu has planned a 12- day programme, including night stay in all the Northeastern states to understand various issues plaguing the region.
Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of Shillong-Dawki road project in the city, on Monday, Naidu said the plan was made in consultation with the Prime Minister and the intention is to understand the people, problems and the place better.
“I will interact with people, including the achievers in various fields during the visit to the Northeastern states,” Naidu said.
“I am here after inaugurating major projects in Assam. I was not allowed to use helicopter due to the weather condition and hence the road way was used but I enjoyed the beauty of Meghalaya during my journey to Shillong”, he said.
The vice president also stressed the need to fast track development activities in the region.
