VPP firm on secretariat march despite CM’s appeal

Shillong, Aug 5: Chief Minister Conrad  Sangma has said the state government has not shut its doors for discussion as the VPP is firm to march towards secretariat.
Speaking to reporters, he urged the VPP  to use the Assembly as the appropriate forum to raise its concerns.
Sangma said the government is always open to dialogue.
“We have always been open to discussion. We have always mentioned that if there are any issues, we are always ready to discuss any matter,” he said.
The chief minister added that the democratic process mandates that such matters be taken up in the Assembly, with a session scheduled soon.
“More importantly, the democratic process that is always followed is that discussions are held in the Assembly, and the session is coming up very soon,” he said.
“So, if there are any concerns, that is the correct platform, the right platform to take it up. But apart from that, as a government we have never closed our doors to anyone for discussion. Therefore, if there is any discussion, we are always ready to discuss any matter of public importance. That is our stand,” Sangma said.
