Shillong, April 4: The VPP and KHNAM wanted special session to discuss on roster system while Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) expressed the need to retain the system besides making it effective retrospectively .
The KSU has also expressed its views on the matter by saying that the roster system should be implemented with prospective effect and not from 1972, the year of formation of Meghalaya.
While the VPP has decided to write to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma for the special session, KHNAM has petitioned the governor Phagu Chauhan on the need to have the special session.
The statements are after the Meghalaya High Court refused to give any cut-off year for the roster system while dismissing a PIL by ACHIK vice president Greneth Sangma with a note that the decision for a cut-off date or how far back the roster system would be made applicable is left worh the legislature and the executive.
