UDP looks for candidates to contest GHADC polls

Shillong, Nov 3: United Democratic Party (UDP) president Metbah Lyngdoh expressed hope about its prospects in the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) polls.

The party has constituted a panel to oversee its welfare in the Garo Hills region and identify potential candidates for the elections.We have entrusted that group to identify people or candidates who are interested and who are there in their respective constituencies for the up-coming GHADC election,” Metbah told reporters.

Lyngdoh downplayed Congress emerging as a threat to the UDP in Garo Hills.

UDP currently has one MDC from the region.
