Shillong, Jan 16: Police on Friday arrested a thief who attacked a woman in the city.
According to the police, on January 14, a written FIR was received that a miscreant entered the house of Devi Basumatary (42) in Upper Lachaumiere, here on January 13 around 2 pm with the intention to rob the house. When the victim saw him inside the room, she tried to lock him in, but he attacked her by hitting her on the head with an iron rod and also threatened to kill her. He then took her sling bag containing her mobile phone and cash and fled away. She suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
An investigation was conducted, and after collecting all material evidence, the accused person was identified as Navin Sunar (43).
On January 16, around 4.30 pm, the special party of Pasteur Beat House, led by Officer in-charge of Pasteur Beat House Arki Warlang, arrested the accused from Boucher Road.
In this regard, a case vide Laitumkhrah P.S C/No 05(01)2026 U/S 331(7)/304(2)/351(3)/127(2) BNS 2023 was registered.
