Shillong, March 9: The International Women’s Day main event scheduled at 9 am on Monday (March 9) at Lok Bhavan here was delayed by two hours.
The invitees and the journalists arrived on time only to be told that it is at 11 am.
When asked, the Lok Bhavan sources said that they are only facilitating the event and not organising it
The Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Health& Family Welfare Department, Public Health Engineering Department & Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society hosted the event.
An official said the plan was to have high tea with registration before start of programme and lunch at the end of the programme.
The Information and Public Relations Department received the schedule at 9 am, and the same was conveyed to the press on Friday last.
Though International Women’s Day was on March 8, the state government decided to celebrate it on March 9.
