
Shillong, June 24: The deaths of dogs, cats and birds near Laban Circuit House here, after consuming poisoned food, remain a mystery as clear CCTV camera footage is not available.

Light blue-covered substance mixed with rice and meat was found at the spot
Authorities have collected the samples and dead birds to investigate the matter further.
The incident was on Sunday night (June 21), but the staff of the circuit house noticed the carcasses on Monday (June 22) morning.

The CCTV camera at the entrance of the circuit house is not functional.
The coverage of CCTV camera at the intelligence bureau office in Bishnupur is limited.
Two dead dogs belonged to Health Commissioner and Secretary Joram Beda, who is residing at the circuit house, while another one is missing .
The two carcasses of the dogs were buried inside the circuit house, near the gate.
Several dead dogs and cats were taken by the staff of the Municipal Board and disposed of, while some strays are missing after consuming the poisonous food.
One of surviving dogs is under medical examination by the staff of the animal husbandry and veterinary department, Garikhana here
The carcasses of the birds were found near the drain and inside the circuit house, even on Wednesday (June 24).
Animal lovers have sought action from the concerned authorities.
