Bangla minister talks tough on attack on Hindus
Dhaka, Oct 21 (UNI): Bangladesh Minister of State for Religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan said the perpetrators of arson in the houses of the Hindu community in Kasba of Ramnathpur in Pirganj, Rangpur must face exemplary justice.
He said those who want to derail the development agenda of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government and indulge in violence to destroy the atmosphere of communal harmony in the country will dealt with firmly.
He stated this while distributing cash grants on behalf of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to the families of those Hindu community affected in the attack on Sunday at Kasba in Ramnathpur Union of Pirganj Upazila in Rangpur district.
The minister said the people’s representatives, the administration and the people must remain united under the leadership of the Sheikh Hasina against the communal forces.
He added that they made Bangladesh through the great war of liberation under the leadership of the father of the nation.
He said everyone in the society should be aware of the fact that the vicious cycle of violence cannot destroy the hard-earned communal harmony of the country.
The meeting was chaired by Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Asif Ahsan and was addressed by Member of Parliament and Senior Vice Chairman of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Manoranjan Shil Gopal MP and Vice Chairman Subrata Pal.
The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. Naib Ali Mandal, Rangpur Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Sarkar, Director of Islamic Foundation Rangpur Division Md. Abul Kalam, Pirganj Upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mandal, Pirganj Upazila Executive Officer Biroda Rani Roy and others.
