Shillong, May 21: Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a junior engineer from Umiam, Ri Bhoi.
Earlier on Monday, police had received a missing person’s complaint which said that the person had gone missing while he was out for jogging in the morning .
Later, the police received the information that one body has been found floating in the stream in the morning. The body was pulled out of the stream with the help of the villagers. The body has been identified by the relatives as the person who was missing.
The body is of Ron Cooper Massar (54), husband of Andrea Rynghang, a resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng, Ri Bhoi district .During further enquiry, police suspect it to be a case of drowning.
He was working as Junior Engineer in Water Resources Department, Shillong.
The family members of the deceased initially insisted for exemption of post mortem examination but later, they agreed after the police convinced them. The police came to know from the family members that the deceased had not gone to work since one year.
