CII lauds Goa govt’s support to industry

Panaji, May 8 (UNI): The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday appreciated the Goa government’s efforts to initiate measures in the interest of industry and the efforts of the government and all the dedicated healthcare workers for tirelessly being on the frontline to treat patients and further to contain the spread Covid-19 virus in the state.

A statement from CII said, “It is encouraging to note that the Chief Minister of Goa has taken industry’s sentiments into consideration and exempted it from a total lockdown. CII appreciates Government of Goa’s efforts in initiating measures in the interest of industry and the efforts of the Government and all the dedicated healthcare workers for tirelessly being on the frontline to treat patients and further to contain the spread Covid-19 virus in the state.”

The decision to exempt industry and industrial activity in Goa from total lockdown displayed the government’s positive inclusive approach towards supporting economic activity in the state and avoiding economic losses and hardships caused by abrupt stoppage of normal functioning and disruption in the working process line of various industries, already struggling due to the consequences of the earlier lockdowns, the statement said.

“CII is confident that all employers will extend all support to their employees to get the vaccination process completed. We also expect the govt machinery to extend all support to employees reporting to work and ease their hardships during their work commute during this period and appeals to all the employees to carry their identity cards or company issued authorization letters permitting their travel. CII affirms that serious efforts must be taken by Industry to ensure that all necessary precautionary measures are taken to protect themselves and their staff during this lockdown period,” it said.
