CM confirms Ampareen’s move to join NPP

Shillong, Feb 7: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has confirmed the move of Congress legislator Ampareen Lyngdoh to join NPP
Speculation was rife after Lyngdoh’s husband and Congress MDC from Malki-Laitumkhrah Fantin Joseph Lakadong had expressed his willingness to join the party.
The chief minister said further discussions are yet to take place.
Earlier, Lakadong said he will join the NPP as his supporters wanted him to do so.
“So we will see when the time comes. I’ll be able to inform when the time is right,” Conrad told reporters.
Without denying speculations that Ampareen would also be joining his party ahead of the 2023 Assembly polls, Conrad said, “Ampareen and us have always been talking and she has been somebody who has been very keen and interested in the overall development of the state.”
