Shillong, Aug 16: Congress MLA PT Sawkmie on Monday visited the violence affected areas in Mawlai-Nongkwar where clashes erupted on Sunday night.
The clashes were between the CRPF and the residents after the former raided the area.
According to Sawkmie, three people were injured and houses, shops and vehicles were vandalised by the CRPF men.
Following the incident, the residents and the local MLA asked the government to shift the CRPF camp to any other place.
Sawkmie said that that the CRPF camp should be shifted from the area as people know who is breaking the law.
“This compels me to condemn the behaviour of the CRPF and the camp should be shifted at the earliest,” he said.
