Failure of police to produce all witnesses & Covid symptoms of commission’s lawyer delay Cherish probe

Shillong, Feb 2: The failure of the police to produce all witnesses and Covid symptoms to the judicial inquiry commission’s lawyer have delayed the probe into the killing of former HNLC leader Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew.

According to an order passed by the commission on January 27, the examination of  wintesses was adjourned on the request of the commission’s lawyer on the same day that he developed Covid symptoms after his wife tested positive.

However, the commission wanted the police to produce atleast four of their witnesses on the next dates of hearing on February 4 and 5.

Earlier, only the special DGP, I. Nongrang appeared before the commission as wintess though the inquiry panel wanted all the witnesses to appear to proceed with their examination.
