Shillong, Jan 28: Governor Satya Pal Malik will take up the attacks on non-tribals in the state with the Chief Minister and the Centre.
This assurance was given by the governor to Assam Linguistic Minority Development Board chairman Shailaditya Dev and state BJP legislator A L Hek, who called on him at Raj Bhavan on Friday to take up the issue.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the governor, both Dev and Hek said their intention was to ensure peace and tranquility in the state so that all sections of people can live in the state without fear.
Earlier, Dev said there is a need to form a linguistic development board to help the linguistic minority group in the state as this will ensure their safety and security.
He said the linguistic minority groups are often reluctant and afraid to file FIR and in this context, the board can extend support.
