Harijan delegation meets CS ahead of ministerial level talks

Shillong, Sept 25:The members  the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) met Chief Secretary DP Wahlang on Wednesday to discuss the relocation of 342 families.
The delegation is optimistic that the issue will be resolved at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters, SGPC activist and convenor of Save Shillong Sikhs Campaign Jagmohan Singh said, “We had a constructive meeting and we are hopeful that the problem of the residents of Punjabi lane will be solved soon.We are not here to create any trouble. We are here to help the government to resolve the problem in an amicable and proper manner.”
According to the convenor,  the delegation was not fully satisfied and that is why they are raising some concerns and these are still under discussion so that things can be iron out in order to come up with good solution.
“Subsequent to that, the deputy chief minister had already said that the matter is now left to be dealt by chief secretary and that is why we are meeting the chief secretary now and we are waiting for an invitation from the government,” he added.
