HC seeks case diary of attack on court vehicles, occupants

Shillong, Aug 24: The High Court of Meghalaya wanted production of case diary related to the attack on two court vehicles where officers were present.

During the hearing of the PIL on Monday( Aug 24) the division bench comprising Judges W Diengdoh and HS Thangkhiew said that the court notes that in the violent incidents, two vehicles of the
Meghalaya High Court, wherein officers were present were also attacked
and persons, which include a PSO and a Driver were assaulted.

“With regard to these cases which appear at Sl. Nos. 7 & 8, the State respondents are to produce the Case Dairy. In all these cases, the same expeditious consideration should be given, including the attack on the public transport
bus’, the bench said.

The court observed that in compliance of the order dated 20.08.2026, a status report has been produced by the state respondents.
The Advocate General assisted by N.G. Shylla, senior government advocate for the state respondents led the court to the various steps taken, especially the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct expeditious investigation into the circumstances, leading to the incidents that occurred on August 19. The cases registered on vandalism and assault have been produced before the court. It is noticed that perhaps the investigation is going on, but apart from arrest of the office bearers,
there has been no further arrest made of the persons connected with the
incidents.
