Health minister’s Mawsynram trip turns party-oriented
Shillong, Sept 30: Health and Family Welfare Minister James Sangma inspected various healthcare centres in Mawsynram on Thursday and NPP members greeted him and submitted letters for improvement of the health facility.
The members submitted a memorandum for the upgradation of Sawsymper health sub-centre to a Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC).
The members of NPP’s Dangar unit also submitted a memorandum to the minister for upgrading the Dangar PHC to a Community Healthcare Centre (CHC).
James, who visited various locations in and around the Mawsynram Block, was accompanied by Mawsynram MDC Alvin Sawkmie, Mawsynram Block President B S Nongrem and members of the NPP, Mawsynram Block.
The purpose was to identify areas of immediate improvement and gaps which require the health department’s attention.
“I have received requests from NPP workers of Sawsymper and Dangar units to look into the upgradation of infrastructure, which will allow catering to many more people. The requests are of genuine importance and as a department, we will look into it as soon as possible,” James said.The minister also visited Lawbah PHC site to inspect the progress of work besides the Ryngku PHC to check functional concerns.

During the inspection, the minister met the members of NPP’s Sawsymper unit.
