HITO seeks clarification on admission to B.Ed

Shillong, May 12: HITO has sought  clarification on the admission to the B. Ed. degree at College of Teacher Education, Rongkhon, Tura.

In a letter submitted to the education minister on Thursday through the secretary education, Ambrose Marak, the HITO pointed out that the office of the Principal of the College of Teacher Education, Tura, has invited applications for the B.Ed course for 2022-24. However, in the admission criteria, no details are mentioned about the admission rules to be followed by the institution except for the eligibility criteria like percentage of marks and entrance test.

HITO wanted to know whether the state reservation policy is being followed for admission to the B.Ed course as in the case of other professional courses.

Other queries include the total number of seats for the course, number of seats reserved for Garos and Khasi Jaintia category and the seats reserved for SC/OBC/general category.

Cut off marks/percentages for the entrance test were also sought besides the total number of seats reserved for in-service teachers.

“We would also like to inform you that in the notification, the date of issuing of application forms is only from 10.05.2022 to 13.05.2022 and the last date for submission is 18.05.2022 and for outstation candidates applying online the last date for submission of forms is on 16.05.2022, and also the number of application forms is very limited i.e. only 160. Therefore, since there is only one Govt. College for B.Ed courses in the State (i.e. CTE Rongkhon, Tura) we request your office to increase the number of application forms and provide more days/time for submission of forms for the benefit of the aspiring candidates from other parts of the state”, HITO said in the letter.
