Indian Racing Festival on April 19 at Laitkor

Shillong, April 16: The ‘Indian Racing Festival-A Carnival of Total Control’ will be held at the Directorate General Assam Rifles, Laitkor, on April 19 from 12.30 pm.
The JK Tyre-powered event is supported by Meghalaya Motorsports Society, Assam Rifles and Meghalaya Tourism Department.
For motorsport enthusiasts, the event will be a thrilling ride as the high-octane festival marks a new milestone in the motorsports landscape of Northeast India, bringing together adrenaline, precision, and celebration in one electrifying event, said the organisers on Thursday.
The Shillong edition aims to put Meghalaya on the national motorsports map while creating a festive environment for families, fans, and
future racers.
Briefing reporters about the event, Hari Singh, Head of Operations JK Tyre Motorsport, said this is the third leg of the initiative after Nagaland and Mizoram.
After Shillong, the event will be held in Assam and Sikkim.
According to Singh, who is a five-time Indian National Rally Champion, 2000 and Asia Zone Rally Champion, the initiative will help to channelise the energy of the youths in the North East.
Phoebe Dale Nongrum, the first female Formula 4 driver from the North East and Vice- Champion INRC Women’s Category 2024, hoped that the event will help to tap the potential of the region.
Nongrum, who is also the chairperson of Meghalaya Motorsports Society, said gathering of the motorsports professionals will boost the regions’ prospects.
Easter Kharkongor, president, Meghalaya Motorsports Society was also present during the media interaction.
Professional racing from sharp turns to straight-line sprints featuring top talents and precision-tuned machines will mark the occasion.
The festival is a tribute to skill, speed, and safety.
As there is no competition, the event will focus on youth & community engagement designed to inspire and involve the local
youth and motorsport fans, ensuring passion, discipline, and unity.
Jaden Pariat will be driving the Formula 4 for the event.
The organisers collaborated with Assam Rifles as it is India’s oldest paramilitary force and lends support to foster sportsmanship and community development in the region.
