Infant found alive in house with dead couple   

Shillong, Sept 21: A six-month-old baby was found alive in a house where her parents were found dead in West Khasi Hills.

According to the police, on Tuesday around 11.30 am, information was received from Nongstoin police station that one person identified as Bose Kharbani, (25) had hung himself in the rented house of Shidalin Wahiang in Siejlieh village.

On reaching the spot, police saw the body of a woman identified as Rosemery Lyngkhoi (26), who was the wife of Kharbani.

She was from Themiew village.

The six-month-old child, who is their daughter, was also found alive on the bedside and was immediately rushed to Civil Hospital for medical examination who, later had been handed over to the relatives, police said.

The crime scene unit, Shillong was requisitioned and after examination, it is suspected that the husband had murdered his wife with a knife which was found on the spot and then he committed suicide, said the SP, West Khasi Hills, HG Lyngdoh.

“It was also found out through eye witnesses that the door was bolted from inside, the SP said in a statement.

All prime exhibits have been seized and will be sent to the forensic lab and in this connection a case has been registered under Nongstoin police station under section 302 IPC, the official added.
