James & Rymbui annoyed over chargesheet move by Pala
Shillong, June 7: NPP and UDP have criticised the MPCC president Vincent Pala for the move of the Congress to file chargesheet against the MDA government over the many lapses.
When asked about the chargesheet move, Cabinet minister James Sangma told reporters on Tuesday that these are allegations which are baseless, concocted and imaginations of certain people which do not stand legal scrutiny.
“Playing to the gallery and using rhetoric is unfortunate and unbecoming of a leader”, he said
Though in a democracy, people are free to air thier views, he said politicians should have certain responsibility not to throw around accusations and allegations and make threats about filing chargesheets . If you have evidence , go ahead, no need of making threats, it is a free country”, James added.
To the same question, UDP leader Lahkmen Rymbui said, “The MPCC president is trying to become the petitioner, the investigating officer and the prosecutor and the judge – so let the people judge.”
Rymbui also criticised Pala for accusing the UDP of involving in corruption.
“Vincent Pala has crossed the limit of decency because he should understand that as a president of the Congress he should introspect why everybody is leaving him and now he is starting to make allegations,” Rymbui told reporters on Tuesday.
Rymbui wanted Pala to spell out policies of the Congress for 2023 instead of blaming everyone.
“But from a senior politician and that too a three-time MP like him to term everybody as corrupt and that every department is corrupt, it is totally unacceptable. I respect him and his politics but to come from his mouth these types of allegations, it is again unacceptable, I should conclude by saying that Vincent speaks nonsense and acts innocent,”he added.
The allegation of Pala was that the UDP is more corrupt than the NPP and other coalition partners.
