Killing tarnishes image of state already known as land of abuse of power and corruption perpetrated by those in power: VPP

Shillong, Apr 12: The Voice of the People Party has said the killing in Mawlai Mawroh has further tarnished the image of the state ‘which has already been known as the land of abuse of power and corruption perpetrated by those in power’.

In a statement issued on Friday, Batskhem Myrboh, the spokesperson of VPP said that the party which fully commits to ‘the Constitution of India and the principle of Rule of Law condemns the cold blooded murder of a labourer at Mawlai Mawroh’.

According to the VPP leader, no one has the right to take the life of any one. Right to life is the basic human right of each and every individual irrespective of community, ethnicity, race, caste and religion guaranteed both under the International as well as the laws of the country”, the VPP said.

“We urge the state government to take steps and measures to ensure that rule of law prevails in the state”, the VPP said.
