Mine tragedy: MLA writes to Assam CM to talk to his counterpart
Shillong, June 7: The MLA of Katigorah constituency, Khalil Uddin Mazumder has sought the intervention of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the rescue of miners trapped in East Jaintia Hills.
One of the miners, Anowarul, is from Katigorah constituency.
In a letter addressed to the chief minister on Sunday, Mazumder said that four out of five trapped miners are from Assam and even after seven days, there has been no breakthrough in the search operations.
He also expressed concern over Meghalaya government not giving permission for the relatives of the miners, who are in agony, to visit the site.
The MLA asked the Assam chief minister to take up the matter with his Meghalaya counterpart.
