Mizoram set up clash with Railways; Manipur to face Odisha in semi-final

Kozhikode, Dec 6 (UNI): Mizoram are all set to face Railways in Senior Women’s National Football Championship semi-final on Tuesday.
This will be the first time in the history of the Senior Women’s Championship when Mizoram will feature in the last four.
In the quarter finals, Elizabeth Vanlalmawii (10′, 87′) and Lalnunsiami (24′, 66′) scored a brace each to help Mizoram win against Maharashtra, who also made it through to the semifinals by virtue of a solitary goal by Karen Pais (47′) in the third quarter-final match.manpur
On the other hand, last edition’s runner-up Railways defeated Goa 4-2 in their quarter-final clash. It was a six-goal affair where Supriya Routray (45+1′, 56′, 58′) scored a hat-trick, while Mamta (69′) scored the fourth goal for Railways. Sushmita Jadhav was the only goal-scorer from Goa, who scored two goals (33′ and 90+1′).
In the second semi-final, defending champions Manipur will lock horns with Odisha. The 20-time national champions defeated Assam in the quarter-final by scoring two goals. Kiranbala Chanu (9′) and Babysana Devi (65′) helped the team reach the semi-final.
Odisha, on the other hand, ended Tamil Nadu’s fairy run in the last quarterfinal by virtue of two goals scored by Karishma Oram (27′) and Satyabati Khadia (37′).
Tamil Nadu were the heavyweights coming into the quarter-final match with the likes of Sandhiya Ranganathan and Pandiselvi in their ranks but Odisha put up a brilliant team display to take the honours.
The semi-finals are scheduled to take place on December 7 in EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala.
