Shillong,Oct 21: NEIGRIHMS joined the nation-wide celebrations on Thursday as India created history by vaccinating more than 100 crore population against the dreaded SARS-CoV-2 virus that has resulted in the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, NEIGRIHMS said India has become the only nation in the world to achieve this laudable accomplishment and that too in such a short time. History will document this as the biggest vaccination drive ever, and we as a nation have cause to hold our heads high,” it added.
Celebrating the occasion, NEIGRIHMS, in association with the Bank of Baroda and the Rotary Club of Shillong, commemorated the important milestone at the main hospital premises. Dr Nalin Mehta, Director NEIGRIHMS, was the chief guest at a function that was attended by the Network DGM Kolkata Zone Sonam Tshering Bhutia and Ailen Diengdoh, Regional Head Guwahati of the Bank of Baroda, members of the Rotary Club of Shillong and the people who contributed to the mammoth task – the faculty, resident doctors, nursing staff and employees of NEIGRIHMS.
The Bank of Baroda, as part of its CSR activity, donated a Basic Life Support Ambulance to the director of the institute to mark the occasion.
