Sources said the move on the part of the NPP is to oust the CEM Benedic Marak due to his alleged proximity with TMC MDCs.

Earlier, Marak had removed three MDCs- one a cousin of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma- from the post of chairman of various bodies.

According to sources, the NPP leadership wanted to install GHADC chairman Rakesh Sangma (in picture), brother-in-law of Conrad to the post of CEM and hence the no-confidence motion was moved by the NPP.
