Speaker yet to recognise 12 MLAs as Trinamool members

Shillong,Nov 25: Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh is yet to recognise the merger of 12 Congress legislators to TMC.

The legislators met him on Thursday evening to pursue the matter.

The leader of the group, Mukul Sangma said certain procedures will have to followed.

Earlier on Wednesday, a letter was handed over to the speaker regarding the merger. Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee had also submitted a separate letter, according to the speaker.

The speaker will recognise the merger of Congress MLAs with TMC  after going through the provisions of 10th Schedule to the Constitution which deals with anti-defection law, an official said.
