State to get Rs 92 crore as central Covid grant

Shillong, August 17: The Centre has sanctioned over Rs 1,300 crore for the eight north-eastern states to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meghalaya will receive Rs 91.94 crore. Assam has the lion’s share of the grant with Rs 812.46 crore followed by Arunachal Pradesh with Rs 141.94 crore. The total allocation is Rs 1,352.92 crore.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday announced the allocation during a virtual Covid-19 review meeting with the chief ministers of the northeastern states.

“Reviewed the pandemic situation, vaccination & implementation of ECRP (Emergency Covid-19 Response Package) – II in the North-Eastern States, along with all the Health Ministers of NE States.

Govt under PM @NarendraModi ji has announced ECRP – II package to support the States in fighting #COVID19,” Mandaviya tweeted.

He said the package will help create necessary infrastructure like testing, medicine storage, beds and ventilators to fight Covid-19.

“I have assured the States that the Central Government will continue to give all possible help & urged them to expedite the implementation of the ECRP – II package,” the minister tweeted.
