Shillong, June 9: A community corona care centre for male patients has been set up at Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School in Jaiaw Laitdom.
The centre, the second in the cluster identified as Zone IV under Lumdiengjri police station, is part of the district administration’s initiative to set up cluster-wise corona care centres for the poor.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo visited the centre on Tuesday and met the healthcare staff and other frontline workers. She thanked the Jaiaw dorbar and Seng Khasi Kmie for their cooperation in setting up the corona care centre. Additional deputy commissioner and Incident Commander of Zone IV B Ranee, Headman SB Kharbyngar and member of the Seng Khasi Covid Relief Committee Hammarsing Kharhmar were also present.
The ground floor of the building houses the nursing station, store and logistics, the first floor has 22 beds mostly reserved for categories ‘C’ and ‘B’ patients and the second floor with 28 beds is for Category ‘A’ patients.
The community corona care centre was formally handed over to the Health and Family Welfare Department for operations and the Zone Helpline/War Room Phone number is 60093 11104.
