UDP leader for pullout ultimatum to MDA over coal issue

Shillong, Feb 20:. UDP leader Bindo Lanong has said it would be ideal for the party to serve ultimatum to the NPP- led government to order independent probe or else it should pull out of the government.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Lanong said ultimatum to the MDA could be an option if various allegations of Illegal coal mining and transportation are true.

According to Lanong, a CBI enquiry or probe by any official body of both the state and central government should be made and all the people involved in these activities must be arrested .

Lanong said illegal coal mining  has become a lucrative  business and added that ‘big people.’ are making money out of it including the people who are in the government.

Lanong defended the UDPs’ stand of aligning with the government even after various instances of alleged illegalities under NPP- led MDA government by saying that the need to take corrective steps was raised in the past too on other issues.

He reminded that when there was a move to privatise MeECL by the government, the party had opposed it.
