Govt issues advisory to prevent eye infection
Shillong, Aug 19: With the increase in the number of conjunctivitis and eye infections being reported, the government has issued advisory on preventive measures.
East Khasi Hills District Medical & Health Officer Dr Adreena Lyngdoh has urged the people to enhance awareness among the community on the signs and symptoms, mode of spread, prevention and management so that infection can be contained.
“Those suffering from conjunctivitis should remain isolated at home to prevent the spread of infection to others and consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond 5 days”, the official said.
Every individual should be advised to maintain health hygiene, frequently wash hands and avoid sharing personal items and touching the eyes and face, the official added.
