Kolkata, Nov 9 (UNI): The Mamata Banerjee government on Tuesday appointed her former finance minister Dr Amit Mitra as the principal chief advisor to the chief minister as well as the finance department, in the rank of cabinet minister.
“Advise and aid the chief minister and finance department on all matters relating to management of state finance,” a government notification on the appointment of Mitra, said.
“Represent state government on national and international events/meetings/committees as per desire of the state government,” the notification on the appointment said.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a minor reshuffle of her six months old third ministry kept the state finance department, which was under Mr Mitra in the first two governments from 2011.
Due to old age, Mitra did not contest the 2021 poll.
