Job reservation demand genuine

Earlier, moving a call attention motion on nepotism in MPSC, Basaiawmoit criticised the legislators from other political parties for allegedly insinuating against his party.

Basaiawmoit said his party raising the issue of job reservation is not to hoodwink or mislead the job seekers as has been insinuated by few members of this House.
“We are not indulging in that kind of politics. I am very amused with some of the MLAs, who are so obsessed with the VPP. I feel they must learn to accept defeat and mandate of the people. Their continuing to insinuate us is undermining the wisdom of the people who voted for the party in the Lok Sabha election,” he said.
“The MP, who won from our party is not only the MP of the VPP, he is MP representing the Shillong constituency. We want to see there is proper coordination between MP and state so that we can follow up developmental
projects”, he said.
He wanted everyone to forget politics after election.
Basaiawmoit said, “This is a loud and clear message against those, who are insinuating agains the VPP.”

“The department will constitute a committee  to study the matter in depth and come up with a final report in 3 months,” Lyngdoh said.

He was replying to a resolution moved by opposition VPP legislator Adelbert Nongrum in the Assembly

The resolution seeks to to impress upon the union government on the crucial need to further amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 so as to make necessary exclusions and substitutions to the list of tribes in Part XI of the schedule pertaining to the state of Meghalaya, in keeping with the actual demographic of the state.
