Shillong, Jan 11: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the Meghalaya State Organic & Farming Policy 2023 to further its efforts towards organic farming in Meghalaya.
The policy will streamline the government’s plan of action and will look into aspects of organic certification of produce.
However, recently the government lifted the ban on use of chemical fertilizers which may be a hindrance to the policy.
But Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the policy will be implemented in a phased manner to maintain a balance.
Tourism policy
The cabinet has also approved the Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2023. The Tourism Policy will give shape and structure to adapt to the necessary changes required to boost the sector and will also look into aspects of sustainability.
