Civil Hospital Shillong: Inside Out

Boxes containing garbage, abandoned by fish-sellers, outside the hospital remain unattended and the stench is repulsive to pedestrians on the footpath. On the other side of the wall, jacaranda carpets the premises of the hospital, which is one of the Covid-19 treatment centres. It was heartening to see on May 15 how cleanliness is maintained on the premises. Only if the municipality adds to the efforts and keeps public spaces clean — and the task becomes easier during total curfew — especially in this time of war against a mutating germ.
