Conrad, Kharlukhi blame Mukul on border issue

Shillong, April 27: Chief Minister Conrad  Sangma and  Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi have blamed former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for the problems related to border dispute.

While the chief minister reiterated that the previous government led by Mukul Sangma had in 2011 excluded a few border villages, Kharlukhi said the firing incident in the Langpih border had brought hardships to the people and Mukul did not fix responsibility on those perpetrators.

Both the leaders spoke on the matter at the meeting of the NPYF on Wednesday.

They also ruled out revisiting the MoU on border deal.

Revisiting the MoU signed in respect of the 6 areas of difference would go against the principles based on which the decision was arrived at, Conrad said.

“If we open up the subject of revisiting then the entire exercise we have done will be a waste and we have to start from scratch again. I don’t mind that but we have done the best we could and we have gained in a large way and majority of the people in areas are happy in areas where we have resolved,” Conrad told reporters.
