Shillong, Oct 8: Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee felicitated collaborators for the successful food fest supporting drug awareness campaign.
The Mahila Congress held a felicitation ceremony on October 4 to express appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the recently concluded food fest.
According to Mahila Congress chief Joplyn Scott Shylla, held under the theme “Food for a Cause”, the fest was more than a celebration of food — it was a celebration of compassion, community, and purpose. “Every stall, every effort, and every helping hand came together to support a larger mission: raising funds and awareness for the committee’s upcoming statewide campaign against drug abuse.
Speaking at the event, Shylla extended her gratitude to all those who made the initiative possible. “The Food Fest showed us the power of togetherness,” she said. “When people unite with empathy and purpose, we can bring real change. The fight against drugs cannot be left to policies alone — it must begin with awareness, care, and collective strength.”
Shylla also commended the women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and young volunteers whose energy and commitment turned the event into a shared success. “You have all reminded us that every small act of kindness and participation can touch lives and build hope,” she added.
The felicitation programme featured special acknowledgments for individuals and groups who went above and beyond in their contributions. Funds raised through the food fest will now support upcoming drug awareness workshops, school and college outreach programmes, and community engagements to be carried out by the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee across Meghalaya in the months ahead.
The MPCC mahila wing affirmed its enduring commitment to stand with families, women, and youth championing causes that nurture safer, stronger, and more compassionate communities. The committee also invited citizens, organisations, and the media to join hands in building a united front against the growing challenge of drug abuse.
