Summersalt releases first song from new album ‘Kliar’
Band will come up with 11 songs over seven months
Shillong, June 30: Folk-fusion music band Summersalt will release 11 originals over a period of seven months, the first being Mluh (salt in English), which was released on June 29.
The date of release of the first song coincided with the birthday of a band member, Baiaineh C Shangpliang, alias Nah, who passed away two years ago.
The band says the album, titled Kliar (summit in English), aims to give the best treatment to the music of the hills and particularly of the Khasi Hills.
Also, the idea of releasing “one song at a time is to augment the attention of the audience, fans and well-wishers who, according to the band, need time to digest the work of arts”.
About Mluh, the band said the song has been around for some years and it has a mass appeal. The song calls upon listeners to celebrate the nutrients and richness of the indigenous food from the Khasi Hills.
“The musicianship, artistry and professionalism displayed by Suk, Kit, Ador, Greg, Weet, Nah and Dajied can be heard on every song,” said Shantanu Hudlikar, the man behind the sound of Summersalt’s second album.
The album was recorded at Yash Raj Films Studios and mixed and mastered at Orbis Studio, both in Mumbai.
