Shillong, Sept 19: A prisoner, who is convicted for murder, committed suicide at a corona care centre in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills on Sunday.
An official with the home (jails) department said the prisoner, Maidani Moila Magor (41), a Covid positive patient, was referred to Maternity and Child Health (MCH) corona center (old Jowai civil hospital), Panaliar, Jowai for treatment.

But Magor, who is facing life imprisonment, hanged himself in the morning, the official added.
The matter was reported to West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner for proper inquiry.
Magor is from Nongjngi village, West Jaintia Hills.
