Shillong, July 30: The new labour minister, Sanbor Shullai said he would address the pending issue related to the financial aid for the marginalised workers.
“As labour department mostly concerns with the interest of the poor people and labourers, this will be the first issue which I am going to take up on Monday with the concerned officers,” he told reporters.
He added that there will be no compromise when it comes to ensuring justice to the beneficiaries.
Commenting on the protest staged by TUR leader Angela Rangad against the non-release of financial assistance to marginalised workers, Shullai said he saw in the media reports that she had alone protested infront of the secretariat.
“Since I am not much acquainted with this as I have only seen in newspapers about her demands and I don’t know what designation she is holding for the labourers, whether she is the president of the labourers, that I am not aware. But like I said earlier, I will call the officers and I will see that if it is genuine then we have to give or disburse this money to all the genuine labourers as enshrined by the rules, each one of them will be getting,” he added.
According to Shullai, justice will be done and whatever money they are supposed to get will go direct to their bank accounts.
