Shillong, Feb 22: The International Mother Language Day was celebrated on Monday at Bangiya Sahitya Parishad in the city.
Remembering the martyrs, floral tributes were paid to commemorate their contributions. The programme started with the speech of Dhananjay Chakraborty followed by songs in Bengali by Paromita Paul, Dhananjay Goswami and Suchhanda.

Prof. Shahanur Rahman of NEHU lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the celebrations. The Parishad’s executive members and other dignitaries associated with it were part of the celebration.
