Shillong, Sept 24: The members of Sex Trade Opposing People (STOP) on Friday condemned the recent incident at Barik, where the senior journalist EM Jose was manhandled by miscreants near Civil Hospital during the sit-in demonstration organised by several NGOs.
“We demand the goons involved be traced and appropriate action be taken against them”, a statement issued by STOP said on Friday.
It also referred to the nature of public demonstrations by the residents of Mawlai against the Meghalaya police for taking down Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew whose militant organisation was responsible for the deaths of many innocent people, both tribals and non-tribals.
According to STOP, Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew, who is currently being hailed a hero, was involved in many criminal activities. If the law can condemn the crimes committed by Julius Dorphang, why can’t it do the same with Cherishstarfield?”, it asked.
STOP said the residents of Mawlai should also condemn the murders of the innocent lives carried out forcefully by these “khlur ka Ri”.
